Hello Everyone,
Before I start, I would like to thank you all for reading each story and supporting this newsletter, it means a lot.
Plus, welcome to the new subscribers who joined this week. You all are amazing.
Last week, I decided to do a little experiment on Twitter
I wrote this on my profile to see how many people I get to see it!
The goal in mind was to prove the power of Twitter, how this platform can help creators, small businesses and anyone with an idea reach more like-minded people and create a community around their work.
I’ve seen first hand, how using this social network as the primary way of communication, helped some curious people get their dream job, funding, users, and crazy enough, a wife
I wanted to try for myself to see if it was true how good this platform was and share it with everyone as I got more serious about using my profile this year.
The plan for this article was simple:
Write a tweet on Thursday, 19/11
Share it on some groups/websites around the internet
Let’s see what happens by Thursday (26/11)
Share results here next Friday, the 27th, that means today!
At the moment of sharing it, I had 178 followers, it’s was a small number so it felt like a big challenge to do. To count how much people I could get to see it
My metrics to analyze if the post was successful were, first, the number of likes and, second, most importantly the number of impressions I got.
The results of this experiment weren’t a total success to be totally transparent, as I only got 3 likes and 4 retweets, I saw some of you there (thanks again!) but the interesting part came with the impressions I received.
In the span of 7 days after I post it, I got 6.4K impressions, simply by tweeting as I do normally and sharing the post, that’s a lot more than what I had in mind.
on the simple post, I reach almost 7x times my following, without paying an ad.
This may not sound as life-changing or anything but this is just an example of how easy is to reach people using this platform in the right way.
At The New Gazette, I try to share brands or people doing incredible things on the internet, and for this reason, I wrote about Twitter.
This social network over the past 10 years has become a place to gather and share knowledge with different people with the same interests.
Over the evolution of the internet, there’s no other place like Twitter to chat with people you never thought in a million years they will put attention to you.
Like founders, celebrities, journalists, creators, and many more.
For new businesses and creators like me, this social network can and should become the place to share ideas and create conversations to achieve your dreams.
I love how some brands became better after listening to their customers, how some leaders share their knowledge for free, and how some people get help when they need it.
For me, Twitter has become a place where I met really interesting people with who I can have really deep and meaningful conversations about life and many more things.
To get the best experience possible, there are some hacks to learn but do them and you will get more excited when you use the platform, here are some:
Curate your following #1, Review who you see when you open the app, and in the words of Marie Kondo, if it did not bring you joy, don’t feel bad to unfollow.
Curate your following # 2, find the people who talk the most about your interests, if it’s marketing, go follow CMOs or directors and you will learn a lot, find your niche.
Always bring positivity, if you’re going to say something bad, think first and then share, sometimes it’s better to not create negative impressions of yourself
Create Relationships, go to the app trying to make friends, you will see there's actually a lot of interesting people in there.
Use DMs, try to send a DM to someone you want to talk to, you will realize it’s simpler than imagined
Block/mute, don’t be afraid to do it, this will help to make the platform a better place.
Some of you already use Twitter but try to make little changes in your profile and you will get a new experience there, I guarantee it.
Try to spend the time on this platform with more mindfulness, see positive things, share good news, and try to make the world a better place, one Tweet at a time.
Until next week,
Jose.

Awesome post! Thanks for sharing your experiment and great tips on using Twitter. I was on Twitter just a few month now too but learned a lot from the app. It's truly a wonderful place to meet awesome people. Love to DM you sometimes too. 😊
